Rudderless I  30x30cm

Framed, acrylic and mixed media on wood

Uncertainty and the unknown has been a way of life for so many. Isolation, loneliness, loss and being abandoned in such stressful times has created an anxiety that some have not experienced before. Boats floating, buoys surrounded by ocean, alone and yet together represent this anxiety of the collective world. ‘Rudderless’ is representative of individuals/groups, families trapped together and also kept from each other during trying times. Within this darkness, however, the buoys and boats themselves are solid, stable, riding waves and navigating their way together. The three red buoys are myself, my husband and son.The yellow ochre is the internal glow of love and promise of changes to come.
